Every now and again you have to make fun and joke around how life parallels in many ways. For example, take women, cars and marriage.
Lets pretend the year is 1995 and you just went into a Mercedes Benz dealership and paid a whopping $115K for a brand new 1995 Mercedes Benz s600. The car is state of the art, drives like a rocket, smooth and has insane eye appeal. The technology is way ahead of its time. Everyone that glances over cant stop checking out the car. When you’re not in the car you can’t stop thinking about your next trip.
Definitely one of the best buys you’ve ever made!
Now, in the same year you meet the woman of your dreams, young, 20ish, beautiful, well fit and everyone around you cant stop checking out your girl. When you’re together you’re inseparable, nothing but fun and you enjoy each other immensely. The sex is new and you cant get enough of each other.
A few years go by, lets say its 1999. You still like driving the car however you are familiar with it. It still drives great and a looker. At the same time your relationship is still strong. Your girlfriend is still strikingly attractive however you are now more comfortable. You know the manufacture warranty is just about up on your car so you protect your vehicle by purchasing an extended warranty. At the same time, you buy your girlfriend engagement ring ensuring long lasting love and commitment and marry shortly after.
Fast forward to 2006. Your car is now 11 years old. Its still a looker however it’s had a few trips to the shop for repairs. You even get frustrated from time to time as the mechanics have difficulty diagnosing problems but eventually figure out the problem. You no longer look forward to those nice drives like you did 11 years go but still don’t mind taking a long road trip from time to time. Your wife now has 3 kids, you have a wonderful family and you enjoy them but get nagged from time to time. As a matter of fact you have a few fights and she cuts out sex while shes mad. Still very attractive but the 2 of you are very used to each other. You start window shopping newer Mercedes Models. These new cars now come with Bluetooth, you can speak without a phone to your ear and navigation. No more road maps. As you finish window shopping you a younger 20ish woman walks past you and smiles.
We’re now going to fast forward to the year 2025. Its been a while. You still own your 30 year old Mercedes. You’ve take care of it. Despite its intermittent break downs, expensive maintenance costs and highway robbery repairs, it still runs and drives like a kitten. The paint still even sparkles as you kept it garage kept. Newer Mercedes models now drive by themselves without human interaction. At the same time, you and your wife have been together with your wife for 30 years. You guys have had more than your share of fights and arguments. Your kids are now out of the house and on their own. The money you had to shell out for your family was ridiculous.
You may ask where we’re going with this and the answer is simple. Despite everything, that 30 year old Mercedes is still there. Now people are starting to check it out again because its a classic. More and more people are so interested at how well kept it is they even make offers to buy it. Your wife always took care of herself never letting herself go, shes elegant and a classy older woman. Even younger guys stop to check her out. Because life starts to slow down a bit you now start enjoying the short rides in your Mercedes but only if your wife is with you.
